Not only that the man who murdered him was allowed to go free for thirty one years, before finally being convicted in 1994 for a crime commited in 1963.
Byron De La Beckwith Jr. racist, KKK member was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1994, but was already in his late seventies and terminally ill, he died having only served five and a half years before being released on compassionate grounds and died in hospital in 2001.
