You know the Mormon church actually tried this as a defense when they were found to be illegally hoarding over $100 Billion that's Billion with a B in bank accounts registered to holding companies, in the Cayman Islands that were in fact the Corporation of the 1st Bishopric and the corporation of the President of the church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints.
There answer was "It is not the church's money, it is money held in trust for Lord Jesus Christ, to be collected by Him upon his return"
And they really expected the IRS and SEC to believe this and decide "Oh well that's all right then"
