In 1994 this event changed my life for the better and wiser. For me, this was the final nail in the ‘God’ coffin. In one regard I believe in conspiracies. When there’s money involved and one has access to the public media there are conspiracies and the most destructive conspiracy we have, on the planet, today is the (funded) conspiracy about constant growth and the dangers of reducing our population. Some years ago PBS “To the Contrary” with Bonnie Erbe [pbs.org] put out a video on how ZPG and the Sierra Club received $100 million from an anonymous donor in return to change a part of their population equation. I was a Seattle Chapter board member and witnessed a major change first hand. At one time the Sierra Club had a branch devoted to overpopulation.

Yes, it puzzles me why these rich people want to have more people on this earth, and to prevent them from family planning choices, opportunities to grow crops in non-ideal environments and yet deny affordable health care to all these people once we are over populated. On the flip side, they also want to deny immigrants from coming in to our country.

Fewer people would mean higher quality of life for all, yet they want more people, but only the "right" kind of people, yes pun intended.

They want to gain money through investments based on growth. They also don't want to pay their fair share of taxes. We've had a fairly progressive tax system until the bean counters figured how to create loopholes for the wealthy.
Corporations want immigration to continue as it gives them a cheap a pliable workforce. If they were truly against excess immigration they would have passed E-verify a long time ago. Obama, deported more people here illegally but few knew this. He understood the problems with bringing in millions of people who don't speak the language, know the laws and often come just to raise their carbon footprint. This policy should not be about people but a crashing system all live under, citizens and immigrants alike.

A shrinking population is a problem for us now mainly because of the way our entitlement programs are set up, and the fact that the rich have been so successful at engineering tax dodges for themselves. But history shows that depopulation can have salubrious effects. The Renaissance came about in large part because the survivors of the bubonic plague inherited wealth that allowed them leisure time to devote to art, science, philosophy, education, and technological advancement.

All the excuses corporations and some unknowledgeable give are based on little evidence. Right now Japan is losing people. Their birthrates have gone down and they don't want to accept foreigners. Their economy is improving. Housing and food are becoming more affordable. I submitted a post about this phenomenon. The technology we need is not how to increase our numbers but be able to live within our means.

Men decide how a woman should be because men feel that women are slaves to men The men decide how a woman can behave and he decides her body. Why he should do this is based upon physical strength. Because he is stronger, he decides everything.. So we live in a world where violence decides everything and so essentially we have not grown up but remain primitive,
The trouble is men know very little about women's bodies. But why that means that they know better about how a woman should be reverts back to superior strength which is imperiously without justification, arrogant and selfish beyond reason.

Mmm I once worked as a youth worker for the Salvation Army. We were advised that we couldn’t put forward services that promoted abortion.
I kept the number of a open minded counselling line anyway. But I also didn’t realise that abortion was officially illegal in the State of Queensland (Australia) at the time. That all came out in the media after the abortion drug was obtained by a young couple online and they got charged. Things got really bad as the wording of the law was vague. Hospitals were scared to assist women with dead babies in them for fear of being charged. I think things got changed shortly afterwards but the abortion pill has only just been allowed: [theguardian.com]

Yep, Queensland is different.
