This was a typical theme in most of the pantheons around that time periods. Gods came down and took advantage of married women or men. Joseph seemed very understanding about it. Most of the Greek, Roman, Egyptian mates of this type of thing were not. I always thought Christianity was just jumping on the bandwagon of the times.

It was more like the Holy Rape. I don't think either one of they mythical parents of the mythical Jesus asked for this. The entire story is ridiculous as we know from millions of observations that human women do not get pregnant without the benefit of human male spermatoza. Of course, anything is possible in fairy tales.
