Nature has a way of dealing with species that become overpopulated. Again, in my county, the rabbit population has gotten out of hand. A number of years ago nature intervened with the rabbits and sent a pandemic that eradicated most of them. The few survivors went on to breed like humans. Guess what, another pandemic has hit this population. Most of the population is in our village. Dog owners often brought their dogs when dining out. They would get an outside seat and watch their dogs chasing the rabbits. When we first moved to Seattle this was a problem on Vashon/Maury Island and soon the rabbits caught the disease that rendered them blind. Nature can be cruel and we humans are not exempt. Now scientists are seeing an uptick in a new bird virus, H5N1, that has moved to humans. [yahoo.com]
