I don't eat apples anymore. Ever since i learned "an apple a day keeps the doctor away," I stopped eating them. What happens if I get sick and need a doctor? If I had an apple that day, the doctor will flee.

Why does everyone assume the forbidden fruit was an apple? Were there apples in the eastern part of Asia 6,000 years ago?

I've read that the forbidden fruit in the Adam and Eve myth was more likely a mango. Translators for the English versions of the bible must have chosen a generic fruit easily understood. Wondering though if the custom of giving an apple to a teacher is because the apple is associated with "knowledge" according to the English versions of the bible.

@Julie808 Just for the record, no edition of Genesis mentions a specific fruit; it's just the fruit of the tree of knowledge.

Wrong fairytale. I'm pretty sure there weren't apples in the garden, maybe that's for Snow White.

Fairytale is right. I find Genisis the most interesting book in the bible. Well, maybe the book of Enoch...
