I probably said no to more opportunities to pursue women I was otherwise interested in because they weren't Christian. That and the whole no sex thing affects me even today and makes me pretty guilt ridden and puritanical about sex. So, it's hard to say how much of that is strictly from religion and how much is just a function of a reserved personality that doesn't like taking huge risks when it comes to love and sex. I definitely don't put all the blame on religion, some of it just seems to be how I am.

thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts about that topic!

I used to believe I should only date Jewish guys. That belief bit the dust in college.

I used to wank in a lead lined room.

Not at all. A lack of a woman has slowed it down a bit.

It was great. Church was a great place to meet girls.

It didn't.

My Roman Catholic HS Boyfriend I was crazy about dumped me after we finally had sex a few times. Apparently he was too consumed with Catholic guilt to continue the relationship. But it might have been something else and that was just his excuse. That was a lot of years ago, though. Since then, I don't think it's mattered very much because devout men never really went for me after that to begin with, and if I knew a guy was a Bible-thumper I wouldn't have encouraged him on basic compatibility grounds in the first place, so it was pretty much a non-issue.

It made me miss out on some potentially awesome relationships and some potentially awesome sexual experiences since I was a virgin by choice because of religion.

My lack of faith had more influence. Jesus jumpers dumped me for another Jesus jumper.

In the most negative manner one could possibly imagine.

Oh this sounds good! Details please! I'm just kidding only if you feel comfortable with it

do you think you missed out on something because of your faith?

@likunder Yes, I had opportunities with some really awesome girls back in high school, but passed on their "ideas" due to my family's religious background/upbringing. I try hard not to dwell on the past, but at times the memories come back though.

@Kojaksmom Yeah, it kind of bums me out when I think about it...

@Kojaksmom ... oh that must be hard for you If you think about that...
I am 26 yo and still a virgin... but I personally can't blame it (just) on my faith. 🙂 I wasn't ready for a relationship because of several illnesses...
If I think about what I missed out on, it helps me to be thankful for what I have now. Many people don't even get to the age of 26... so thinking about me still being alive is one thing that helps me get over thoughts of "I missed out on ...".
But I understand if that doesn't help everyone...
thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts!
