I would think that I would just stay in the state in which I was living when I died, unless my will states otherwise. 😛

That statement only makes sense if the prior state of the individual were non-existence.

I was perfectly happy not being born. I have enjoyed the challenges of life. However, I suspect I shall be perfectly happy after I have gone.

There was no you before you were born. When you're dead there will be no you anymore. So I guess you're right 🙂

I'd love to "go-home" as a spectral entity, but I think the only state I'll be heading to is the state of non-existence. 😟

An unexpected death could get you there.

This has always been my assumption, the consciousness dissipates as the physical body that sustains it ceases to function.
