How do you feel about closing Personals section on Craigslist? I used to enjoy reading those ads! I posted an ad once and got a lot of spams right after that. Do you have any interesting experience on there that you care to share?

I don't recall ever writing a personal or responding to any but I did read them on once in a while. Some of them really made me smile.

"March 22 marked the end of the Craigslist personals era for Missoula and every other city in the country. That’s the day that users clicking on any personals subsections — including “strictly platonic” — were presented with this statement: “US Congress just passed HR 1865, ‘FOSTA’, seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully. Any tool or service can be misused. We can’t take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline.”

I got a laugh out of Craigslist personal ads. Come-ons from gay guys: "I'll be in a hotel stripped naked, door unlocked, with my butt raised and ready for your dick."

"Really? You are so horny that you have no concern for your personal safety?" I thought. "Or the reverse: respondents will be be robbed at gunpoint when they arrive."

I once answered a Craigslist personal ad from a man my age who was a hiker. Taught me to look askance at closed-mouth photos. His teeth were horrid: missing teeth, yellow snaggle-toothed, with diseased gums. Ugh. I can't imagine kissing that.

Pretty stupid if you ask me. It's just more of trying to legislate morality from the Christofacist's

Closing ads on CL was the chickenshit way out. It's like they were trying to say the new laws would allow them to be sued if anything bad happened to you after you had responded to a Criagslist ad. It simply is not true. That's worse than the sign at garage sales that reads "not responsible for accidents."
