Come Monday morning I'll be on the road driving to Texas and a couple weeks later up to Michigan. Providing, that is, I can stay off this site long enough to get everything done that needs doing.

I love road trips! Sometimes it can get a little lonely when I'm by myself but I just try to use the time for reflection and contemplation. I'll download music and books to fill in the gaps. I may be stopping more this trip because the photographic bug has bit me and there are some lovely sites between here and Texas.

If you don't mind talking on the phone and want to help keep me company during my first leg of 1200 miles? PM me. Now I've got to get back to packing and stuff! ?

P.S. We need a travel category.

If your second lag of the trip is to the UP in Michigan, you may be going right past Waupun. My town and Wisconsin's City of Sculpture.

I'm actually going to central Michigan. But last summer we went to the UP but only as far as Tahquamenon Falls.

@BeeHappy Been there myself, Up farther on Lake Superior by Munising is the Pictured Rock National Park, a great place.

@Mark013 yes the UP is quite beautiful.

Be safe! I hope you can post some photos along your journey. I think you're brave. Have fun!

I will try to do that. Not brave just adventurous and curious. Thanks! ?

Sounds like fun! I love road trips.

Me too!

Pm me if you get near Ireland, then I will know you have gone a little off course..and I will be here to bail you out.
No but seriously take care and don't talk to any strangers..unless they are Canadian..they will just say Hey and keep walking..

Lol! I don't anticipate needing to be bailed out but then again you never know. As far as strangers go part of the experience of travel is talking to the locals (aka strangers). So I can't follow that advice but I will take care. ?

@BeeHappy Robert Frost

The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.

For your Journey, I always like that line.

@Hitchens thank you kindly my Irish friend!

try not to pop any wheelies, and keep it twixt the ditches.

Hahaha! I couldn't do a wheelie if I tried! Lol. No problem with the ditches providing the other crazies on the road behave. ?

Be safe! Be careful, Bee Happy. Fill us in as you come east.

Will do!?

PM me if you are anywhere near Las Vegas NM

I'm taking 40 across NM.

@BeeHappy by western definitions that is close. If you are near Santa Rosa or Tucumcari at a civilized time I would meet up with your for a break

@btroje, Cool! I love Santa Rosa and try to stop there either coming or going. Depending on what kind of time I make it should be either Monday late or Tuesday early. I'll PM you Monday when I know for sure.

Safe, and wonderful travels!

Thank you!

@BeeHappy
Will your drive be taking you through Wyoming?

@Holysocks unfortunately no. I haven't spent nearly enough time in that part of the country. I'll be on I-40 most of the way thru AZ & NM, partly in TX. When I hit Amarillo I leave 40 and head SE toward the Dallas-Ft Worth area.

@BeeHappy
You should hit Caprock Canyon if you happen to have time. And Capulin volcano in NM. OKOKOK I'll stop now.

@Holysocks, I'll look those up and see if that's feasible this trip. Thanks for the suggestions! ?

@BeeHappy
Absolutely! It's a gorgeous country we live in.

@Holysocks I agree and there just doesn't seem to be enough time to see it all. ?

@BeeHappy
There isn't.
