You know, it suprises me that more churches here don't fight back against the blurring line between church and state. Blurring that line leads to a two way street of influence, and I cannot see church communities approving of the government subverting or otherwise controlling how they are allowed to run. I know a few religious types that are fighting this fight, but not many.

I'm pretty certain that almost every "christian" politician is an atheist at heart. Christianity is merely another tool for them to manipulate the voters.

Many Kings, ruling by "divine right", probably had the same opinion. After all, they originally coined the phrase!

When state and religion become bedfellows, both are corrupted.

Watching contact gave me some perspective on the christian right. In a universe filled with billions of stars and planets, how could one be so naive to think that little old earth, a pale blue dot, could have so much signicance in the scheme in the whloe scheme of astrophysical evolutuon. Not to mention that a god who could keep track of a billion people on earth. Oh thats right he only is concerned about christians. Each and every one of millions. Such an absurd concept.

... and to think you have a personal relationship with that one true god.
(no not you)

Now the question is: is it liberal, conservative or just plain idiotic.

Sad but true. I spent many wonderful summers at our cabin by Lake Champlain in the 50s and 60s, and met many great people working and studying in the US from time to time in the 80s and 90s. Unfortunately, the US is no longer a comfortable place to visit for someone not American. Even my Canadian driver's licence seems to unacceptable for some law enforcement officers in some states. My indigenous and South Asian friends are even more afraid to spend time south of the border. This feels like a sad deterioration of a welcoming country.

So sad-lived near Burlington, VT-went to Canada 30 years ago all the time.

@sassygirl3869 Burlington; was there many time since our country cabin was just outside St. Albans. Even got my first bee sting in Burlington. Lol So many great memories.

So much for the constitutional separation.
