Please reconsider and refresh your lawn and garden care habits.
The sheer mass of inappropriate grass (ie: Kentucky bluegrass really isn't meant to grow in zone 4 and bombing it with everything needed to force it to is a battle for the addle brained) makes what we apply where a big deal.
Encourage yourself to do better for your environment and everything that lives in it and encourage ridiculous neighborhood covenants to be changed.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Nature also abhors a monoculture. That's the science! Don't deny it. Hey, I could put that on a t-shirt. I claim it as copyrighted!!

Weed Begone! My favorite weapon against thistles, and those yellow flowers with the puff ball seeds.
Tordon! Great against honeysuckle and multifloral rose!

As a farm boy, I can attest that Tordon is a soil sterilizer. Use only as a last resort.

Good advise. I selectively cut back the offending plant, leaving about an inch of stump exposed... and carefully paint the cut with a small paint brush. Works wonders.

My yard is full of dandelions. I think I heard they were edible, but had forgotten. 🙂

The leaves... Yup.

totally.I think if people stopped maintaining lawns alone the environment would improve appreciably

I detest HOAs. They do more harm than good, and charge for the 'privilege'. Fuck 'em.
