Unfortunately, the hands of 'many' family farmers can't produce enough to feed 320+ million Americans and billions of people who depend on foods from the US. Farming is hard, dirty and expensive. Many farmer children leave for more money and better working conditions. Simple fact of life.

Aren't you talking about the little farmer...?

@BucketlistBob I am talking about all family farmers, small and large. Here is a report about how one small country feeds itself and a lot of the world. I have a large garden and even when my partner was alive and working many hours a day we couldn'g even begin to feed ourselves. I don't most peopl have any idea of what it takes to feed people.

@JackPedigo. But jack... it's going to work out. As things change so will the farming. Example: [livescience.com]
If the pyramid builders could be fed then we ought to be able feed the rest of the world.

@BucketlistBob Maybe the builders could be fed (for some it was their last meal) but the citizens starved when the Nile didn't flood it's banks for several years. It was reported people actually ate their babies to survive. Ever hear of Thomas Malthus?

@JackPedigo. That's climate change and people need to relocate. Its happening in the United states right now. People got to move when rivers and lakes start drying up. My point is that thousands of builders are good to build the pyramids. Looking at them now you would wonder how they did it. They had rain and water and fertile soil to grow crops and feed animals. It took tons of food to feed these people a day. I know about people eating people when it gets rough out there. We've had this in the early days of the USA.

I guess he doesn't know about the farmers being paid not to grow certain foods to keep the price the way it is? Hmmm....

Very true

For health and nutrition and food security, nothing beats having your own garden and family farmers you can buy directly from.
