Breastfeeding shaming? Any thoughts ?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with it! Anywhere! And in case the shamers didn't notice, men have nipples too, so what's the big deal?
Lots of cool antibodies and enzymes in breast milk and there would probably even be a market for it if it didn't taste like expired diluted skim milk with a touch of nutmeg and artificial sweetener. I think nature did that purposely to keep lechers like me at a distance.
It's not just breastfeeding, its pumping too. I'll pump wherever, whenever. Others can just get the hell over it. I'm not going to eat dinner in a toilet, neither is my kid.
Also, pumping is breastfeeding too.
I am a Judicial Magistrate, I had a lady breastfeed during arraignment court. I didn't even bat an eye. Free the tatas
There are few things as beautiful as the human female breast. I don't know why they should be covered or hidden away at all. Women should not be shamed for feeding their children in the most natural manner possible. Why do we think we're so above it?
I breastfed my daughter, quite discreetly, I thought. However, one of my male colleagues would still talk about it with horror years later.
Also, women who use formula should not be shamed, either.
Agreed
Horsewhipping.
If someone would deny a baby a feed when it needs one a flogging and 24 hours in the stocks should reflect both their medieval attitude to children and the disgust this attitude should produce in this century.
It may also go some way to addressing an obviously prurient view of the behaviour of infants and satisfy a residual need for self flagellation.
Who cares. It's just a boob. Only Americans seem to blush at the sight of boobs feeding humans (which we have been doing for hundreds of thousands of years or more).
We should not feel the need to be discreet or surreptitious in order to assure that some oddly conservative person doesn't get "the vapors" from the sight of breastfeeding.
Lmbo Right!!!!!
There's no need to throw a bare breast onto the table to nurse a baby-I always nursed in public by simply tossing a light receiving blanket over one shoulder and nursing my new babies underneath it. Nobody ever noticed..even in church!
I wore front button shirts, but I could even surreptitiously raise the bottom edge of a loose sweatshirt to do so, as long as something draped over me. I even used to nurse my kids while riding my Arabian horse on mountain Colorado trails.
I've never understood the ''shaming'' business! Women have breastfed for millions of years. Why the US decided to go "Victorian" and act as if it's something to hide is beyond me!
Not just the USA
Puritanical mindset that seems to be deeply rooted in this society. Same reason prisons are full, we love to punish others, see them suffer. Ick!
@Deanervin Seriously, I think it's a Christian thing. GOD WILL PUNISH YOU FOR YOUR SINS (and I get to deliver that punishment!) Sex is nasty and breasts are sexy. Ergo....
@LucyLoohoo close enough ?
Now, where did I put that whip...
