Another child dies after being left in a hot car all day. This time in east Nashville,a1 year old baby girl because the father forgot she was in there. HOW can you forget what should be the most important thing in your life? People on the news say to put your cell phone or something in the back seat, when did cell phones become easier to remember than your own children?

I find it funny that this kind of stuff never happened before....I see it as a convenient way for parents to get rid of their kids, and blame other stuff (phones, work, pets, stress) for it. Some people shouldn't be parents. I live in Arizona, and this happens all the time, along with "accidental" drownings.. Again, some people shouldn't be parents. Dogs make better parents than some of them.

Parents should be arrested and charged with murder or manslaughter for their child's death.

Even while massively sleep-deprived and running a high fever from breast infections, I never left my child in the car.

4th grader invents device to keep parents from forgetting their babies in the car

Love this four-year-old girl's invention. Brilliant.

When my son was newborn, my husband and I were halfway home before I remembered he was still asleep in the church.

We rushed back, but I knew then that if something is new, or daily routine is interrupted, bad things could happen.

My son is 32. I was a single parent. In school and working when he was a baby. I never even almost forgot him. Anywhere, let alone in the car. How did this get to be a trend? I don’t understand.

I don't know that it did suddenly did become a trend. In 1986 (2018-32), it would have been local news, not national. It's national now in part thanks to the internet, I suspect, and so you hear about it a lot more.

Sleep deprivation, being on autopilot (if not having the child with you is normal), etc.

It's horrifying, but no less to the actual parent than the observers.

I forget my cell phone in my car all the time even when it's in plain sight (and didn't even have one when my kids were babies) so that suggestion wouldn't have worked for me.

There cannot possibly be any excuses for this sort of thing.

It's not the forgetting about the most important thing in your life, it's the lack of sleep overworked under paid all added up with a lot of stress .

@Crimson67 I'm not defending them I just don't like condemning someone without knowing all the facts
