It amuses and amazes me how far I've come. When I was a kid my grandmother thought this was the most wicked woman ever. I remember hearing about one of her kids who said what a sad women his mother was. Now she's one of my heroes.

This is true and for the betterment of mankind....religion kills people...

@Singleloner11 She's trolling. What is a religious bigot doing on this site? @NormCastle

By the way, wasn't that monument erected by FFRF?

Truly I don't know.

I've posted this on FB before. About a year ago. I like it.

I remember her as being so outspoken and outrageous she created more heat than light. But that was a different time. Maybe she had to be militaristic in order to come out of the closet in those days.

I mean how can you not interpret such sentiments as wicked.

Getting rid of war, disease, and poverty? Prosperity Jesus weeps.

@Singleloner11 She's trolling, @WallyWorld

Didn't one of her own sons buy into religions dark side and arrange her kidnapping for ransom and the kidnappers ended up killing her and a couple others?

I don't know if it was established who killed her.

I think her son was not involved but a business partner of hers was.

Profound!

I remember hearing about her in Catholic grade school and feeling afraid

@TampaHeathen I can't really remember. 2nd grade

Growing up and growing away from a devoted, overly religious family sometimes go hand in hand, I have been very sad to learn...I am no longer in contact with ANYONE in my family, due to my ridiculously overly 'Christian' Trump loving mother and her influence over everyone...so I know where you are comin' from...😉

Madalyn Murray O'Hair was a great woman. She fought against the religious bigots and won.

Ignore her, @nicknotes she's trolling!

Powerful Statement, love it

It took true courage and conviction to defy the religious establishment at that time. She was part of the thin end of a wedge that is growing ever wider.
