I am concerned that many of the far-right voters are basing their votes on their religious beliefs and not their political beliefs. Politics and religion are supposed to be separate.....allowing all who have religious belliefs to express them. Putting religion into politics is a form of racism........ ie: if you are not like me, you are wrong and need to be neutralized in some manner.

In that vein, the issue of abortion is part of the national division. Since we have no real proof of when the zygote becomes a fetus, can't we work to find an area of agreement? I understand it is a womens issue but the aborted babies are half female.

I guess what I am saying, is that I am willing to give up the effort to keep abortion legal in exchange for more accessable birth control, sex education and information on the effects of early sexual behaviors on the brain and the greater likelihood of sexual abuse.

Many countries who have kept abortion legal have seen the number of abortions drop once they added the above interventions.

We have such divisions in this country that Trump has used to his advantage,.......we need to search for areas of agreement with our cohort Americans, to give him LESS ammunition.

As side note; China, for many years.all female fetus's were aborted, now the numbers are biting them in the A$$,as many Men want wives, but too few Women to go around now. Not an easy solution to a crisis they created. I understand the number of children now has increased from one to maybe 2.

Religious zealots are incapable of separating church and state. They see it as their mission to impose religious beliefs on everyone and they cannot be changed.

That's funny... I'm conservative and I cannot stand religion in the least. I also have no qualms with abortion, that is strictly a woman's business and no one else's. Religion does not belong in our politics, and it pays to keep in mind that atheists come in variety.

OR we can vote the GOP out of power!

The millennials are finally old enough, and disgusted enough, to finally vote, so there might be a change for the better!

I agree, Ennasella. If only the radicals on both sides would understand the value of compromise, then we'd maybe start to see some progress.
