I post this here for Memorial Day in remembrance of all those whom we have lost in war times This lyric was found in a hospital during WWII and was put to music by John Gorka. Try to ignore the religious overtones and (hopefully) enjoy this version that I recorded in my living room on my acoustic guitar. It's called "Prayer to St. Peter":

It is interesting that far less poetry came out of WWII than WWI. My suspicion being that the rigour and industry of 1800's poets and writers had passed thanks to movies and steam radio.
