Just wanted to share this- apologies to those who already know it, but it resonated well with me. Don't know who wrote it.

I am here to share a secret-
I am not who I have always been;
The world that lies outstretched before me
Is not the only one I've seen.
I've travelled on the tails of comets,
I've burned up in the hearts of stars,
I've been spat out of supernovas
That left me scattered near and far.
I have dined in distant galaxies
And taught the birds to sing;
I've danced for a whole lifetime
Upon saturn's dusty rings.
I've been here for long enough
To learn what makes willows weep,
I've sung celestial lullabies
That put the moon to sleep.
I've been both the flowing water
And the stone that blocks its way,
I've been frozen and I've been molten
And I'll be again someday.
Though I've been a million things
This is the first one that can smile:
I'm pieces of the universe
Living as human for a while.

I first read this several days ago and was totally amazed. All this information is true and I have heard it before, but never in such a way that made it poetry. I copied it and looked up the author, I will be repeating it many times always with the credit she deserves.

Intended to say, Too many trite and cliché phrases. But at 19 that's excusable.

The author of this piece, ETERNAL, is a young woman from Australia named Erin Hanson. She is a wordsmith extraordinaire. See if this rings your chimes:

What if I fall?

Oh but my darling, what if you fly?

Here is one of her short poems:

“Life is unpredictable,
It changes with the seasons,
Even your coldest winter
Happens for the best of reasons,
And though it feels eternal,
Like all you'll ever do is freeze,
I promise spring is coming,
And with it, brand new leaves”

~ Erin Hanson

Here's a quote from an interview from a couple of years ago:

“I’m 19 and live just outside of Brisbane, Australia in the same house that I have for my whole life. The things I enjoy doing most are writing (obviously), reading and I absolutely love to make things. I do a lot of sewing whether that’s sewing dresses, bags or anything in between. I love doing crochet and embroidery too, so pretty much anything that involves making something new and unique, I’m there!”

I wasn't quite sure about it until I reached the end. Those last two lines - there's the "ah ha!" moment. I love it! Had to go back and read it again with a new appreciation of what it means.
