What would you say to the religiously delusional if the earth was going to be wiped out?

I can say this: Should it happen that a comet or asteroid or whatever is really heading towards us and we're gonnas and nothing can be done, I would take great pleasure at least from saying to religious people while they pray and pray and no God turns up, " Well, where's your God? Did he send it? Why, to kill us all? Are we all that sinful? To punish us for our sins? All of us? A cosmic sledgehammer to hit a cosmic nut. Why doesn't he stop it? Well, so much for your faith. Sinner or Saint, we're all wiped out. Where's your 'loving God' now?"

Maybe in those last few minutes or hours, knowing they are toast like everyone else, maybe the religiously delusional might think to themselves, "Well those atheists were right. No God. Just another day in the universe. Little things hit big things. Our number came up. And all this religious crap I pretended to believe too."

Millennia of uncountable tragedies, Black Death, WW1, WW2, genocide and unspeakable crimes, no God. Dinosaurs got wiped out. Same thing could happen to us. Tough break, but that's reality. I'd take whatever consolation from the reality check religionists would face.

Maybe you'd be more forgiving than me.

there isn't much i despise more than the global mania that is religion, so yes, i would probably laugh my arse off at the shocked & hurt expressions of the deluded masses, but actually ... do we have to imagine anything in the future? isn't it all happening? everywhere? the indiscriminate horrors inflicted on any kind of life worldwide? war, famine, genocide, injustice, unfairness, torture, maiming of babies, even before birth... endless randomness of "humanity". god? what sort of perverted arsehole would that be? yep, you see, my contempt, here, now, forever.

Quite true, our own self destruction may be unfolding, but honestly, the more I read about large things wizzing past the earth, and how often we dodge these cosmic bullets, and the fact that it has happened before, I have to ask myself how lucky can we be to keep dodging them. Millions of years possibly, but also maybe next week, who knows? What I do strongly believe is that no God would turn up to save us, and the Godly would have to face the fact that either, it is a hateful God that kills all, good and bad, or no God exists. Either way, it's a no win situation. For atheists, it's another day in the cosmic office. It was just a bad day for us.

@David1955, the "hateful god" doesn't exist, & i am proof of that ... cursed it often enough since early childhood 😉

Would religion change anything at all?

Rogue commit heading for Earth, and Bruce Willis doesn't save us? No, no I'm not buying it In Diehard we trust.

Mixing Brucy movies, taint we? Anyway, no time to send Big Bruce. Coming from the direction of the sun, we'd hardly have time to kiss our asses goodbye.

@David1955 if no time for Bruce, then I will have to count on Captain Kirk to beam me up

@David1955, i don't even have suppleness to kiss my ass goodbye.

@Krypto-Knight hate to break the bad news but Kirk won't be around until the 23rd century. No one is gonna beam you anywhere. Sorry. 🙂

@walklightly keep working on that yoga.

@David1955, nearly there.

@David1955 come on Spock's slingshot theory sent them back in time. Three times Kirk and crew went back in time, and three times they almost didn't make it back.

@Krypto-Knight now that's a stretch, yes sir, a real stretch.

@David1955 Yet some how still more reasonable than waiting for the baby Jesus to save me

@Krypto-Knight LOL ?
