I'm currently using Hulu to catch up on some shows. I'm really enjoying 13 Monkeys. What do you enjoy?
I'm enjoying Westworld on HBO right now. I don't pay for TV service (outside of HBO) through my ISP, but I do subscribe to Netflix. Here are some shows I've watched on both networks:
Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad (liked it so much I'm watching it a second time)
Sons of Anarchy
Daredevil (Marvel)
Jessica Jones (Marvel)
Luke Cage (Marvel)
Iron Fist (Marvel)
Turn - I started watching this, but my interest has waned in the second season
The Punisher (Marvel)
Defenders (Marvel mash up of DD, JJ, LC and IF above)
Marvel's Agents of Shield (I watched this when I was paying for cable and could view ABC)
Some comments on the Marvel shows. They are pretty good, for all being based on comic books. I love the tie-ins of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. The Punisher is also connected. I also dig that Agents of Shield meshed with the films to an extent. In that same vein, I love what Disney/Marvel has done with the Marvel Universe and how the storylines all interconnect. Yes, yes, I know, it's marketing, but it WORKS! LOL! It also makes for some kick-ass storytelling. For me, it's the perfect blend of character development, action, effects, and the fantastical world of super heroes. Nobody does it like Marvel. DC is failing miserably.
12 monkeys is good. One of the better time travel shows out there.
I really, really love The Expanse and am so glad Amazon saved it.
Westworld is fascinating.
Runaways on hulu was quite good. A different take on the superhero genre.
Black Lighting on the CW (1st season should be on Netflix by now) was actually really good. It feels like a mature adult show, but not in the sense those words normally mean for entertainment. It's mature and adult in the way that mature adults actually are not just in the "not for kids" way usually associated with the terms.
Brooklyn 99 has one of the best ensembles on tv right now.
Trial and Error is a "true crime" show as a comedy. 1st season has John Lithgow as the defendant he's brilliantly funny as he's ever been.
The Good Place manages to combine some esoteric philosophy, heavy discussions of morality and a heavily serialized story into some of the funniest 22 minute episodes on modern television. If you've managed to make it this far without knowing any of the plot twists or mysteries don't research the show or you'll get spoiled. Just watch and enjoy.
After a rocky first season Agents of Shield has become a fantastic serialized adventure show. They've done some truly amazing arcs.
iZombie is a nice twist on the zombie genre where the main character is a zombie. It's actually a pretty well done metaphor for living with both a life changing disease and mental illness. And she fights crime to boot.
There was a time when Person of Interest was the best scifi show on television. It's still one of my all time favorites.
I could go on for a while more but that will do for now.
Person of Interest was really good!
I'm in love with Liv on iZombie!
Hulu - Handmaid's Tale, Harlots, 600lb Life and Taboo. Netflix - Currently watching 13 Reasons Why and Shameless. I'm always finding something on Netflix though.
My girlfriend left me because of '600 lb Life'. She said I was watching it to shame her into losing weight, I said, "no way are you 600 lbs", your only 550 lbs.
@buzz13 that's AWFUL!! It motivates me to eat healthy and exercise.
@valerina Yes, I have no scrupples. LOL
Been watching Cheers lately on Netflix, haha.
(And I'll never be too far from some Simpsons episodes.)
Just biding my time until football season starts!
I like watch Batman the animated series I used to run home after school to make sure I got to watch it, brings back good memories plus you can see a huge difference in what was considered fine to show children. The way I see it my generation watched these programs and turned out just fine, don't understand why it's changed.
The handmaid's tale of course, and 13 reasons.
I watch the first few episodes of the first season of 13 reasons and could not get into it.
Black Mirror on Netflix
You'd probably enjoy Electric Dreams, too.
@Condor5 I'll check it out. thnx.
Made it through all of the current seasons of Better Call Saul on Netflix, so I'm watching Penny Dreadful until Season 4 of Better Call Saul drops on AMC.
Penny Dreadful was good!
I just got through bingeing on "Orange is the New Black" on Netflix.
I signed up for Netflix just to see the series after reading the book.
Ninja scroll: really intense and surreal action anime, really gritty and mature.
Shin Chan: really funny anime with innapropriate and adult comedy covered by a blanket of a sincere slice of life
American gangster: it's awesome
The boondocks: uh, I'll let you be the judge of the
Seinfeld: each episode seems to get better and the humor gets more in depth and even dark sometimes
Btw, I'm not much of an anime fan, I just happen to like those works in particular
Also recommend city of God on Netflix, so good. Also agretsgo, which is suprisngly good for an anime by hello Kitty. No seriously, it's really nuanced and relatable for any adult trying to get their last few together.
The only thing I've ever used Hulu for is a movie called Lawn Dogs. Note - it's messed up so you've been warned
@Cherie44 I'll have to give them a shot when I get back from Alabama!
Chance on Hulu, with Hugh Laurie. On Amazon Prime, Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Was watching Earth Final Conflict on Roku, but all of a sudden seasons 1,3 and 4 and most of 2 are gone. Don’t recognize people in season 5 so it’s not keeping my attention.
I watched it when it was on broadcast networks and I believe there were some books too.
I’m wanting to get Hulu strictly for the Sarah Silverman show on there by idk if it’s worth it. Any opinions on it if you have watched it?
Also I’m a horror head so i have been binge watching old Twilight zone episodes
I have both hulu and Netflix but find that my grandchildren use the hulu more, and I the other. I really enjoyed the crown
