What do you do when you love someone deeply but don't see a future with them? My "boyfriend" and I have been together off and on for 2 years. I love him so much...like more than I can even express. But I'm not sure a future together is possible. He has a lot of hang ups regarding his ex wife and bitterness about not seeing his kids. Am I stupid to keep hanging around hoping it will all work out or should I just cut my losses and find someone who loves me as much as I love them?

You don't see a future with him.

You don't see him getting over what happened during the end of his marriage.

You don't see him returning the same love you offer him.

It's been two years.

I think that's your answer, and I'm sorry that it isn't a happier one.

Its sad, but sometimes loving is not enough. especially if is one-sided, as it appears to be in your case; He is too engrossed in his own feeling to concern himself with yours.

Sounds like you're in love with the 'idea' of him. I too often fool myself into thinking a man cares for me when he's so obviously unavailable for one reason or another. In your case, he sounds as if he hasn't dealt with his baggage and is UNAVAILABLE to you or anyone.

Be true to yourself.

You know the answer, you may not like it, but, go and find happiness.

My advice would be to try to move on. If he loves you enough, he won't let you leave, and if he doesn't, then you know he doesn't care enough, and you're better off in the long run. It's really hard, I know, and I feel for you. Hope things get better.

Sorry, but this doesn't sound good. Not sure if you're hanging around waiting for him to get his shit together or if you think you can fix him. Neither is good but the second one is worst. Maybe take a step back and try and figure out why you're with him? I've been where you are. I know it's not easy but I hope you can choose what's best for you. Peace.

Your last sentence says it all to me, “find someone who loves me as much as I love them.” If you’re feeling that way after 2 years it’s not going to get better.

Yup. Cut. Your. Losses. Now. RUN.
