Watching ID’s “Your Worst Nightmare “ would make me swear off dating for good! It’s about online relationships/dating and the horrible ways they go wrong. Any interesting stories out there?

Not me but one of my friends decided not to ask a woman out because Snapped was her favorite TV show.

Another strange encounter, a woman suggested committing strong armed robbery and splitting the proceeds as a fun first date activity. In hindsight I wish I had inquired a little bit; I bailed within ten minutes. I'm 6'3'' and solid and she was a small but seemingly fit woman so clearly I would be contributing disproportionately to the actual labor of beating people. Was she the bait to lure them into a vulnerable position? A Bonnie and Clyde role play fantasy? or a quid pro quo for sex and she assumed I was broke?

An acquaintance, not really a friend but we traveled in the same circles and had talked a few times. She was a really masculine lesbian, crewcut, engineer boots wallet on a chain ...definitely had an image to maintain, started hitting on me hard. It was so weird and out of character, I just shined her on. A few days later, she was locked up; she'd taken a guy home, tied him to her bed and stabbed him to death

@Cherie44 Yeah, this was in near you, Denver. I never could find any court records so I assume she ended up in a mental hospital rather than prison.

I can't get enough of shows like that.

Met a very nice fellow; we had been texting and talking for weeks. I pulled into the restaurant parking lot, and he was right there. Got into my car, stared at me a few seconds, announced “I want to f*ck you”, and grabbed for me. Got rid of him quick!

@Cherie44 I did freak out, but managed to get him out and lock the doors. Idiot kept calling me and trying to message me on the dating site. I blocked him everywhere!

@Cherie44, @Stacey48 Thank you! I’m glad I was in such a public place.

I've met some girls that I dumped for minor reasons. IRL I have met worse! My second to last ex relapsed on meth shortly after we were dating. I would get strange calls in the middle of the night. I don't think that online dating is worse than meeting someone at a bar. What channel is that on? I shuld check it out.

@Cherie44 I hope I'm not on there! lol

DINOSAUR

A man drove from Seattle to meet me in Wenatchee. At my request, we went to dinner, followed by a jazz performance.

"You need to dumb down your conversation," he said within 10 minutes of meeting. "Men are intimidated by your intelligence and class." I was appalled.

"Speak for yourself," I replied crisply. "Obviously you are intimidated by my intelligence. I refuse to act stupid to mollify the insecure ego of a sexist man." (SLAM DUNK)

During dinner, I relaxed and enjoyed baiting him, drawing him out.

He said he flew to Russia to find a young, subservient bride. "None of the girls would go home with me," he said sadly. He complained bitterly about having a female supervisor.

At the concert, to annoy him as an uppity woman, I was loud and boisterous applauding the musicians. By the end of the evening, he wasn't speaking to me.

"I refuse to listen to your feminist religion," he wrote the next day. "Feminism is not a religion, the last time I checked," I replied. "Although you are two years older than me, you sound 100 years older. Leave me alone."

@Bierbasstard
He destroyed his chances with me in the first 10 minutes.

After that, I enjoyed drawing him out for my own amusement. I felt like an anthropologist investigating a strange species.

You are right. As an insecure, sexist jerk, he puts down women to boost his shaky self-esteem.

With a Master's degree in human resources management, I set him straight on protected groups and employment law.

He didn't know who he was dealing with!

The only scary close call I had with a date was a second date with the nephew of a lady I knew from church. He was such a gentleman on the first cautious date, I agree to park my truck at his house and ride with him to a movie theater to watch a movie. NEVER do that.

When we returned he decided that, "I can't let you go" and locked the doors, blocking my escape, then started to lunge at me.

I know karate and how to kill people but this guy is 6' 2," a fit ex-Marine, and I'm only 5' 3."
Besides, I didn't feel like explaining his death or any injuries to his aunt.

Then I remembered that men can only think of one thing at a time.

I suddenly said that my truck windows were iced over, so could he help me get the ice off? He stopped, jumped out, and chipped off the ice, while I quickly dove into the truck and locked the doors.

He was angry and the next day began sending me threatening notes (I don't know how he got my address) about how evil I was to trick him, how could I do that to him, etc., but I wrote back that he'd tried to force himself on me and if he contacted me again, I'd call the police.

Oh gosh, you must have been scared.

@Wildgreens Strangely, I was totally calm when it happened, which is what saved me. Afterward, I began suffering from ptsd until I began having panic attacks in crowds..a real problem since I was getting my masters at a local university at the time.

GROUP SEX

After emails and phone conversations, I met a man at a mountain café, 90 miles away. It was April and cold. Oddly, he insisted on eating outside. All the sane diners were inside the warm café. I was warmly dressed in winter boots, ski jacket, hat and gloves. So I said okay.

As soon as our lunch was served and the waitress walked away, he leaned over the table and asked me to join him in group sex. I was aghast. "NO WAY!" I exploded, and asked suspiciously, "Whatever gave you the idea I'd be interested in that?"

"You said you were very liberal," he said. "That refers to my political beliefs, not my sexual inclination," I shot back. I stood up and left, forgetting to take a doggie bag. I drove home, hungry and fuming.

Arriving home, I logged into Match.com and changed my political beliefs to "liberal."
