Who knew Middle Eastern food tasted so good?

My latest food obsession is falafels. I need to start making my own! πŸ˜›

I love Arab and Persian food. My favorite is Afghan. this is Kabuli Pullau (basmati rice with stir-fried carrots and raisins) and murgh karahi (spicy chicken). I made it for my brother-in-law, today.

That looks delicious.

@Ellatynemouth Thanks. πŸ™‚ I encourage everyone to try Afghan food. It’s one of those hidden-gem cuisines.

It really is, and I don't drive out of my way enough , but I .we willl...

A great sauce for those is to mix a handfull of fresh green cilantro in 1/2 cup of yoghurt together and blend using an immersion blender.

Those sound good! Not many places where I live to get middle eastern food.

My favourite food! They're really easy to make and you can add all sorts of things - they work equally well with sultanas for a sweet flavour like some Moroccan dishes, or with chillis and coriander for an Indian style!

Just know that if you know anyone with a legume/peanut allergy chick peas are/can be very risky. My girl can't have chick peas.... or plain peas, and new-to-her legumes are tried with great tepidation and an epi pen handy.

Mmmmmmm. Falafels.

Love these, and stuffed grape leaves.

@artnerd

That looks so healthy too.

@artnerd I've never had them warm. Is that the traditional way?

You should try some taboule salad, with fresh cucumber, lemon, and parsley... It's fabulous on a hit summer day! I recommend Near East's boxed wheat and recipe for it. They include very nice seasonings, where other brands (in the SE US anyway) taste bland.

Tell **us a litltle about what they are

@LetzGetReal Sounds great. Never had one and would like a recipe

I love them in a salad with some chunky blue cheese dressing.

Easy to make, I added a cherry pepper into the chickpea puree to spike it up a bit.

Pita bread on the side because I make a mess of it!

That sounds lovely.

I know, right???? I love Middle Eastern food!! Especially homemade hummus!

Out of all the dishes good hummus is the easiest one to make! I've yet to master "La Shish" style kabobs tho sadly, despite having a great lebanese cookbook...

Middle eastern food is the bomb!!! We're near Dearborn in the US, the highest population of people from the middle east in the U.S. The food is amazing.
/addicted to chicken shish tawook & chicken shawarmas

They are good but very high in fat content. Enjoy but be careful.
