The heart wants what it wants. There’s no logic to these things. You meet someone and you fall in love and that’s that.

You rely too much on brain. The brain is the most overrated organ.

I disagree. The brain is underrated.

Love is chemicals...in the brain. The heart has nothing to do with it

The heart is an idiot! Look at the people (me included) who waste years, even decades, of their life on people not worthy to shine their shoes.

I failed to make the chess team because of my height.

I envy omebas.

My heart knows what it feels. In the past it has taken control of my life - now I have control of my heart. My head now has something to say about it. "Is this person good for me or just a pretty face"? Going to stop with that.

The brain and the heart need to work together. Otherwise you are living in your head and analyzing everything, or living in your body and acting on impulse.

A Chiropractor/Naturopath friend once said the brain is a random thought generator. It's the only organ in the human body that secretes thoughts.

In men, which brain?

I disagree. The heart can be far too easily fooled. It may want what it wants, but that doesn't mean what it wants is necessarily good for you.
Best to keep one's brain actively engaged.

2

The heart wants what it wants. Where have I heard that? Is it from Game Of Thrones?

That saying has been around a lot longer than GoT.
I've been hearing it since I was a child.

And all this time I've heard that the male organ was the most overrated! Sorry. I agree with your sentiments. Love and attraction defy logic. We either find it or we don't. Hope reigns eternal.

Really wish I would have listened to my brain (higher reasoning) earlier in my youth. My impulse and desires led me astray.

Using the heart as a metaphor is fine but the heart is an organ that does just on thing, it pumps blood around and through your system.

The heart will continue pumping even when you're brain dead (sorry for the morbid comment). It's part of the autonomous nervous system. With effort, we can mentally control heart rate to some extent but we can't mentally stop it. But you know that, and he's speaking of the metaphorical heart, not the physical.

I agree. This business about the "heart" wanting something is bizarre, a product of non-thought and ignorance. It's 2018 folks. Time to show that we've learned something in life. In the beginning, man created god (small "g" ).

@wdwyer Thank you for the correction.

@jlynn37 It's just the science in me. I should shut up.

It's the only organ to ever name itself...
