As long as they are running for state/local office, I think it's great. Win there, learn some political skills and how to legislate, and then move up. I'm not interested in any more people with no political background who are running for high office. It never works. We do need politicians who have backgrounds in all walks of life and science is no exception, but pay some dues first to show you are going to be effective.

I reckon I may have to ask the question.... "What experience in their lives is proof they will be good politicians?" Just like "office is not a reality tv show", "office is neither a test lab to experiment with government".

At least they have learned the concept of analyzing! That’s a good start!

@Freedompath government, poilitics is about "People Skills", something scientists admit they are always lacking.

@GipsyOfNewSpain I had to chuckle...I would say trump has ‘people,’ skills that he has used for as far back as his 20s, when I first observed him...what has that got us?

@Freedompath chucling back at ya! Scientists are the only reason why we are at the dawn of a possible nuclear war everytime the sun rises. I won't consider the unpresident having people skills, never liked him, smelled to con man from the first moment he appeared on my tv. I hope you watched movie "Red 2", was not only entertaining but tells you something about a mad scientist. I just want, good capable politicians in political jobs. Not that I consider them great citizens mind you. Election of trump will be the destruction of the america how we used to know. And history will say "well deserved, just like the bolshevicke revolution deserved stalin". QUE SERA, SERA.

@GipsyOfNewSpain now how many scientists developed the bomb? Don’t you think that analyzing information and exposure to many different social issues is needed? I like to be given facts and allowed to make-up my own mind! Sometimes ‘people skilled’ individuals manipulate people into doing stuff against their own interest or better judgment! I guess, I will need to disagree on the ‘people skills’ people making good politicians! I would base this on all the people that I have been exposed to, over my lifetime!

@Freedompath And all it will take is one invention of a scientist to wipe you off the face of the earth. With all due respect is so Ironic how priests and ministers are bashed for acts of religions but scientists get a pass for Damage and Destruction caused by ballistics progress, bombs, missiles, etc, etc, etc... so ironic. So Ironic.

@GipsyOfNewSpain nobody gets a pass, by me! But, I rarely worry about that where I am concerned...as I am a believer that each of us gets back...what our’mindset’ has programmed in there!

@Freedompath hitler just wanted to be a painter once. Government planted him as a mole/informant in an oposition political party and look at the results once he realized on the oportunity in front of him.

I am delighted to see so many women running. Of course running is one thing, winning is another.

I'm a fan of the growing number of women and mothers running for public office. That might be better than scientists.

Good post! Me, too!

Yes. Elect true nerds ( not that jackass actor who made a fortune off the term on TV).
