I got in late last night from six days of camping with no cell phone service. I'm sunburned, sleep deprived, and so relaxed... I was with hundreds of ukulele players who also like beer, really good food, bonfires, coffee... It was amazing. My seventh time at this event, and my son's sixth. Do you have any vacation traditions?
Yeah, it's called No Vaca in 18 yrs
You need to fix that, methinks.
@Nottheonlyone no kidding! I have 3 daughters, 2 have graduated college, youngest just graduated high school, I'm in dire need of a vacation! Hot Springs Arkansas would qualify at this point!
@FallenAngel63 So, in the fall, maybe? Can you make plans at least? Anticipation increases happiness...
@Commonsense Ouch!
@Nottheonlyone oh yeah, I can make plans! Still have to fund college for my youngest, so it might be a driving vaca to New Mexico. I would love to go skiing at Ruidoso again!
@Nottheonlyone, @Commonsense awwww that's rough I can relate. I have had a few long weekends, rented beach house etc but no "real" vaca to speak of since I was pregnant with my 18 yr old
wow, what you describe could become one of mine.
Come up next year!
Tell me the name so I can look it up...
Ukulele World Congress
@Nottheonlyone. Hmmm.... thank you!
There's a state park near here that we used to go to every year in early June, after the kids got out of school (and since I worked in the schools, I could get time off easily then). We stayed in cabins there, most times with my brother and his wife and niece. No phones and no TV, lots of hiking, exploring, and sitting around the campfire. I always took my guitar. We missed a few years here recently, but we're going for the weekend this Saturday. Looking forward to it. Sounds like you had a great time.
Where was this event, if I may ask? I have a good friend who attends these ukulele events as often as he can. They seem like lots if fun.
Needmore, Indiana, but I also go to events in Michigan, Ohio, and Missouri.
