A strong middle class makes the economy grow. A weak middle class makes the economy stagnate or even shrink. The US economy is struggling to grow at three percent a year. Trump says that a great number. China has an economy that is slumping because of trade issues caused by Trump tariffs. But slumping for them is a fall from eight percent growth to six percent growth. Their 'slump' is still twice what our growth rate is. We have met the enemy, and he is us.
