The college admissions scandal is about greed, not sacrifice

I love the conclusion:

"So even though we parents might feel a tinge of empathy for people who seemingly went to great lengths to ensure the success of their children, we should remind ourselves that their so-called sacrifices were an effort to bypass the even minimal barriers of educational attainment that elite schools require of the rest of us, allegedly by way of bribes. It was greed for their children, not sacrifice: Sacrifice is a selfless act, but greed is about self-fulfillment.

"Positioning self-fulfillment as a righteous act is a terrible lesson to teach any of our children — though it's increasingly clear it was a lesson these parents' children learned long before they applied to college."

Yep. It's in our Biology as humans, we have to accept that some people do that for the sake of survival and elitism.

it's been going on forever. if GWB can get a degree from harvard why can't smarter kids than him get ivy league college degrees?

Now they will learn it does not pay to commit illegal and unethical acts. If they are still in college, after they get expelled they are going to have a hell of a time getting in a new one.

Too many of wealthy people want to wrap their children in a cocoon of perennial perpectual advntage for the rest of their lives, while ideologically spouting competition for all others. That is both immoral and a curse for their children which prevents their children from striving to become the people they could be.

Absolutely, it's more about the parents need to brag about their kids attending hight profile institutions than the actual welfare of their kids.....

Its about entitlement and greed. All comes with wealth and privilege.
