LINK Police: Man plowed his car into crowd because he thought they were Muslim – ThinkProgress

He was on his way to Bible class, according to the police, when this military veteran decided to plow into the crowd because he thought they were Muslims.

From the article:
“After crashing, he dragged himself out of the sedan and repeatedly moaned, ‘Thank you, Jesus,’ witnesses said. Police found a disassembled, inoperative shotgun in the Toyota.”

Someone should have told him they sometimes disguise themselves as brick walls, or gather in clusters at the base of steep cliffs!

It must suck to be so brainwashed that everything you experience is through the myopic view of the american two party political system.

Things coming apart because Trump cannot be firm on issues and spreads many lies to keep his support base. The guy used one of the most lame excuses I've heard in a long time. Trump encourages Islamophobes.

I don't think so. The alleged perpetrator is African-American, so the likelihood of his being a Trump supporter is small. That doesn't mean he's not capable of the crime, just that's there's a different reason why he is hating perceived Muslims. And Trump HAS created a climate that encourages Islamophobia and hatred for any "other" who is perceived as a threat.

@citronella by that I mean someone enabled by hate

@citronella Oh no. There are plenty of black people who support trump.

Donald Trump's racist rhetoric has increased hate crimes.

"Reported hate crimes have been on the rise for three consecutive years in the United States, according to FBI data released in 2018. More than half of reported hate crimes targeted a person’s race or ethnicity, while about one in five targeted their religion.

After a gunman opened fire on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, last month, killing 50 people, Muslim leaders blamed the normalization of Islamaphobia around the world."

Vote Republicans out of office!

Three years. Starting about the time Trump's candidacy started getting serious.

@MrDMC
