LINK ‘People Actively Hate Us’: Inside the Border Patrol’s Morale Crisis

They don't hate YOU, they hate that you don't have the balls/intestinal fortitude to stand up to your employer and say "this isn't right" and not do the illegal. immoral, and horrendous shit that they have you doing. If you follow illegal orders you are guilty of committing crimes. If you hurt people you are immoral lowlifes.

It is sad when people fail to see that just following orders is what is putting you in an unfavorable light. Just more of the blame others for your behavior.

why would anybody like them at this point? What's redeemable about what they're doing? Nine-thousand Facebook posters is a significant number of people. Not to mention that it was allowed to continue unquestioned, unabated... and that they're complicit with the president. That they actually like what he's saying. When they walked away from their humanity, how did they think people were going to react?

That I expected to be true.

A very prevalent attitude nowadays:
"Some of those who worked at the agency in earlier years said that it had changed over the past decade, and that an attitude of contempt toward migrants — the view that they are opportunists who brought on their own troubles and are undeserving of a warm welcome — is now the rule, not the exception."

Border patrol's negative perception of migrants is likely the result of indoctrination and/or ignorance that U.S. political/military/corporate interference in Latin American nations has spawned rampant brutality against poor, marginalized people in their own countries. I have heard residents of trump-supporter states say migrants are opportunists, rather than asylum seekers. They deny that migrants have fled violence.
