Brazil Bolsonaro's president says he is a conservative Christian, but his attitudes do not match reality.
Isn't that hypocritical?
Or political opportunism?

To be clearer:::: Why do you think there is one christianity? And why are you attempting to compare self-proclaimed christians to your definition of it?

There is no such thing as "christian" values..... Every worshiping group is a different religious cult. Little to nothing in common. The gospel "writers" do not agree. All the 'lost' books do not agree.

So, is he hypocritical for claiming what he claims. No. He claims to be a christian. Pick ur verses and have at it.

Conservative Christian sounds like an oxymoron. As does the term "Christian Right"

1

Bolsonaro and Trump may have been brothers.

I think that too haha

Hypocritical? All believers are hypocritical. Just take abortion. Jesus said nothing about that issue at all but there is something in the OT in Numbers 5:11-31 that gives a procedure they followed if the husband suspected he was not the father of the soon to be born child. Keep in mind also that the bible says a child is not a person until it draws the first breath. Now let's jump to so called religious ones killing abortion doctors and they actually think they are doing god's work. Does that add up? It is hypocritical and not in the bible.

Yes... 🙂

Lots of room to do whatever the hell you want to do under the guise of "conservative Christian" -- that old desert goatherders mythology can be used to excuse pretty well anything!

1

He’s a Christian like I’m a Zoroastrian. I’m sure Christ rolls over on his grave every time he speaks.

2

He is a trump wannabe

1

He is just another obstructionist fascist telling those too stupid to comprehend that he is telling them what thy want to hear!!!

Just like trump and how he is going to make coal big again while 80% of the mines have closed down and put 30,000 more out of work in coal country in the last three years!!!

These politicians are nothing but fascists out to win at any cost backed by the wealthy and their corporations!!!

3

It makes sense to me. Christianity does not match reality. It never has, and never will.

Very good!

@Iranildo
Just like the legal casino’s on Wall Street!!!

Good answers all. Conservative xtian = trump = fucking hypocritical lying bastards! Not to be trusted with YOUR well-being!

What characteristics of "conservative Christians" does Bolsonaro not have. He's a racist, they're racist, they're militaristic, so is he, they're anti-LGBTQ+, name a quality of "conservative christian" that Bolsonaro doesn't embody.

Exactly.
He's doing an excellent Nero.
Setting fire across the country.

Hypocrisy is part of what it means to be a conservative Christian. This can be seen anywhere on the globe that you find conservative Christians. I think that Covid19 has exposed the Trumps and Bolsonaro's of this world for the fakes they are. Hopefully we will see the decline of this type of politics soon. I think it's on the way. I hope it is.

There is a word for this, it is populism.
They say whatever people wants to hear, and in private or the public actions they make all different.
No one cares what the president does, they just want someone saying that their way of living, seeing the world and dealing with life is the correct and they are superior for being like that.

The Brazilian version of Trump? A guy that dismissed the Health Minister because wasn't doing and saying what he wanted under the excuse of "he's alarming people about this little flu"? I think he belongs to some bullshit Evangelist cult, like there a few in Brazil, the type that the "Bishop" or "Pastor", depending on their nomenclature will live in luxury when the believers, very poor, pay something in name of salvation and struggle to make ends meet. My older brother and my mother live in Ceara, Northeast, when I talk with them they tell me how dumb is that guy. Like Trump, I hope he gets voted out in the next election.

3

Maybe both

He can call himself what ever he wants to, especially when there is no reality to actually match up to.
I cannot recall who said it, but there is a maxim that if you ask 25000 Christians what it means to be a Christian you will get 25000 different answers.
When someone says they are a Christian 24000 of thoose people will assume he is agreeing with them, the other 1000 will know on his door and try and sell him a membership to their cult.
