THERE ARE NOT TWO SIDES TO THE MASK ISSUE IN THE U.S.!!!!

States have Police Power to protect the health and welfare of their citizens. When you live in the United States of America you agree to follow its laws. No one citizen or minority group gets to decide not to follow the law, in this case refusing to wear masks. The U.S. Supreme Court in Jacobson v. Massachusetts, 197 U.S. 11 set forth the issue succinctly, "The liberty secured by the Constitution of the United States does not import an absolute right in each person to be at all times, and in all circumstances, wholly freed from restraint, nor is it an element in such liberty that one person, or a minority of persons residing in any community and enjoying the benefits of its local government, should have power to dominate the majority when supported in their action by the authority of the State." "It is equally true that the State may invest local bodies called into existence for purposes of local administration with authority in some appropriate way to safeguard the public health and the public safety...There are manifold restraints to which every person is necessarily subject for the common good. On any other basis, organized society could not exist with safety to its members. 197 U.S 26 In Crowley v. Christensen,137 U. S. 89, 97 the Supreme Court said: "The possession and enjoyment of all rights are subject to such reasonable conditions as may be deemed by the governing authority of the country essential to the safety, health, peace, good order and morals of the community. Even liberty itself, the greatest of all rights, is not unrestricted license to act according to one's own will." Wear the damn mask!

We don't have the right to good health. The health of the individual is not a right in the United States. The government doesn't give a damn about your health.

So much for understanding the post

@Wildflower

That's not true.

You're right. I'm not a lawyer.

@LiterateHiker It's very true.

@Wildflower

How the U.S. Government protects citizens' health:

The areas of public health responsibility include:

  1. Clean air and water.

  2. Assuring an adequate local public health infrastructure.

  3. Promoting healthy communities and healthy behaviors.

  4. Preventing the spread of communicable disease.

  5. Protecting against environmental health hazards.

  6. preparing for and responding to emergencies, and

  7. assuring health services.

@TheMiddleWay, @LiterateHiker good in theory. I work in the healthcare industry, not much of that is reality.

@TheMiddleWay I agree. We are an individualistic society. Which means in reality that many people fall short of any health rights. When I was poor I did not make enough money to be allowed health insurance. I did not qualify for medicaid because I was not disabled and did not have dependent children. I could not find work enough to support myself or provide me with health insurance. So I guess you could say I was not qualified as a member of society that was worth protecting.

@TheMiddleWay btw, I do wear a mask, I have vaccinated myself and my children, and I know the Earth is round.

@Wildflower . . . pardon me for being pedantic -- the earth is an oblate spheroid. 😮

@Wildflower Yes, let’s be pedantic. Did you go to have the vaccine injected into you or you injected it yourself?? If it was the first case, then you did not vaccinate yourself!! 😂
Sorry, I couldn’t hell myself.
