So, now & then some of you have found me a tad harsh.....tomorrow i am going on a stringent, medically-supervised diet with the goal of losing around 100 lbs. & greatly improving my blood pressure & Type II diabetes(VIRTA).
I would stand back if i were you!

I hope all the best for you in this quest. I enjoy my ice cream and pizza way too much to be able to stick to any diet. So the best way my wife and I have found to lose the pounds is to go camping for long periods of time(two to three months) When we do this we lose an average of two and a half pounds per week with the side benefit of seeing many wonderful things in our national parks. Of course I did not discover this wonderful side effect of having an outdoors lifestyle until after I retired. But it might be something you can add to your weight loss regimen.

When I travel in my little RV with the dogs, I lose about a pound a day regardless of what i eat......I guess higher activity levels? I often though if i toured the western half of the country for 6 months would come back a sylph! Alas, this year the RV was a big geranium planter...even the few day trips i tried in the car were a bust due to closings

@AnneWimsey I know travel has not been possabile this year but I am hopeful and planning an extended trip around April. Researching places to go and hike, swim and camp help me keep my spirits up and makes for a great conversation with the group who usually comes along. The western half of the country is amazing to see with so many national parks and mountain ranges to explore. If you get the chance jump on it!! My wife and I go out about every other year and so far have been amazed every time at how beautiful our country can be once you get away from the cities and crush of people

Any Atheist must appear harsh to xians & closet Agnostics avoiding the natural clash between the fact of Atheism and the fictions of faith. . . I support your fundamental health plans and cut you extra slack to get snippy with people who try your patience

100 pounds is a huge goal! Monitor your vitals! And good luck!

I have to send them to the VIrta people several times a day.....sounds like a PIA but it keeps me focused, so that's good!

By the way, how do you plan to lose all that weight? Is there some type of program you’re doing?

Yes, VIRTA, their doctors connect with you & your doctors. I take too many meds to "do-it-myself" anymore

@AnneWimsey Oh. Never heard of it. Really best of luck. I know how hard it is. Just take it one day at a time. And if you fall off the wagon for a day, just brush off and start again the next day. It’s a slow and steady “race.”

Good luck ....I think I’m far enough away to risk a brusque response! 😅

😂😂

Omg, 100 pounds?!? Good luck! 🤗

I’m trying to lose weight, too. I’ve just lost the 10 pounds I’d gained during quarantine. I’m doing it slowly mostly through diet, with a bit of exercise sprinkled in. Fun times. Lol.

Losing is a bitch, I have to lose 85 pounds so I can have my knees replaced. It is hard as I have trouble walking.

@dalefvictor the old Catch-22, how crummy for you!

@AnneWimsey I do like a challenge.

Hope it goes well

Yes, all the best with it. I’m sure we’ll survive and are all hoping you meet your goals 🙂

Good for for you. You can do this. I don't find you harsh, more direct and to the point.

Ha! More interesting and outspoken than harsh. Good luck with the health mgmt. My mom completely reversed her diabetes with weight reduction and light exercise. It can work, and is quite amazing!

Anne, I've always found you witty, frank, and righteous, and I imagine that will continue, but bitchy is understandable if you're having tough times with this, so I'm good with that, too. The act itself will improve your health, so you're winning right from the start. I don't mean to diminish it ... I did it, so I know how rough it can be, so just reach out if you want a cheering section. {{{ hugs }}}

Good luck! I am thinking of going back on the Atkins Diet after (if) Joe Biden is sworn in as President (it’s nice to write that with a capital P after four years!) on January 20th and Civil War doesn’t break out by the end of the month. You are taking on a tough project, but I’m guessing you have the will power.

I love Atkins, have every book he ever wrote, (read them all 5-6 times each!) have been on it several times, but take too many diabetes meds and several blood pressure ones too, without close medical supervision i could find myself on the floor, or worse.

@AnneWimsey don't want that for sure! Plus with the amount you have set out to lose, you definitely should be under specialists care. I could use to drop about 20 or 30 lbs and I would be happy.

Good luck. If guts alone can win you sure have those.
