A School Board Candidate is Being Smeared Over Her Sex-Themed Science Videos
By Val Wilde
February 6, 2021

In British Columbia, biology professor and science communicator Dr. Carin Bondar is running for Chilliwack School Board trustee on a platform that emphasizes inclusivity, respect for diversity, and — naturally — scientific literacy. She’s an accomplished professional who’s written multiple popular science books, hosted television and web series, and founded a charity to help support women working in STEM fields. She has experience working with students and herself has four children in Chilliwack schools.

But she’s a lady who talks about sex, and that’s made her a target for the conservative men who are currently steering the board… and the conversation.

FFS, what IS wrong with these weirdos opposing her?
IF you fail to teach children the Truth and Facts in regards to Sex, etc, then you end with them 'experimenting' for themselves and the end results are usually unplanned and unwanted Pregnancies and babies.
Far, far better, imo as a parent, to give them the facts in words they can comprehend at what ever age they START to ask questions than it is to merely fob them off until later when it is most often too late anyway.
My daughter was only 6 years old when she started asking 'those' questions, so I told her the facts in words I knew she would comprehend.
About 2 years later I overheard a friend of hers tell how her Mummy, the friend that is, " Found her under a cabbage where God had placed her."
Lorrae's response surprised me to say the very least when she said quite plainly and simply, " That must be why you are always wet behind the ears."

Meanwhile, there is no criticism by these conservative men about the glorified violence that saturates popular culture. But humorous suggestions of a sexual nature by a professor - ALL-OUT ATTACK!

People everywhere always tend to claim their family does it's own sex education and that things like this are so personal and private. From my own experience I can say that sex education is so private that it never does get taught. Conservatives are too embarrassed. I got lucky. There used to be a monthly mag called "Sexology." My folks thought it was pornography but a friend loaned me her copy all the time.

White pearl clutching men are the biggest problem when it comes to science literacy

The same people who had sex as teens have turned into those fundies who think just say no works for their kids.
I'll be perfectly honest, I sent my kids to the local Unitarian sex classes, which were so well praised they were held at the hospital for others to attend as well.
Yes, I did my best to always be honest with my kids. I, though, recognized that allowing someone with better knowledge is real education. All in their 30ies and no children (thus no unwanted ones).

UUs are rightfully proud of their sex ed!
