As more people get vaccinated against COVID-19, doctors say masks won't be going away anytime soon.
Even if you've had the virus, you could be infected with a new variant of coronavirus.
So plan to wear a mask for a while, and wear one that works.
"If you can see light coming through it, it's time to get rid of it," said Dr. John Lowe.
He's an infectious disease expert with UNMC.
He says you should replace fabric masks from several months ago.
And reminds us that disposable masks need to be worn with the color side out, so it can repel droplets.
If the color side starts to fade, Lowe says that's a sign that the fluid resistance of the coating is wearing off and it's time to start wearing a new one.
Lowe warns the new variants of COVID-19 are spreading.
The new variants have spread, if you are reading about them in the news then it is last months news. I don't see us getting clear of this thing anytime soon.
