Accused murderer wins right to check source code of DNA testing kit used by police
New Jersey court says defendant must be able to challenge evidence
Let him try. If the lab has done his job, the murderer will lose his attempt.
Doesn't that assertion assume that the source code has NO flaws ?
@FearlessFly It is a matter of probabilities. If the lab has done its job the probability that here is an error is minisule.
@wordywalt "In previous instances, defense experts have found fatal flaws in this kind of software. For instance, a complex DNA analysis program called βFSTβ was shown to have an undisclosed function in the code with the potential to tip the scales against a defendant. After the defense team found the issue, journalists at ProPublica persuaded the court to have the source code disclosed to the public."
