I have been through a bunch of books lately including I am Spock by Leonard Nemoy, A Universe From Nothing, and god is not great. I'm currently going through the Blind Watchmaker, which so far is fantastic.
Sci Fi but am dipping in and out of a book called, The Secret Code' at the moment.
Fantasy and non-fiction. I'm presently reading Eragon for the umpteenth time. I also am reading Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time."
Uuuuuff where do I start? I'll keep it short. Mainly biographies. For the most part Physicist (of course Albert leads the pack here, I have read and own almost every book (good and really really bad) that has been written about his life, times, thougts, politics, even shenanigans... Yeah). Many more people that has contributed to move the ball forward, not only in Physics but also Math, computers, technology in general... Then there is the category if philosophers, historians, journalists...... Each and everyone had a personal life and good books will present the accomplishments along with the story of the person itself. If it feels like walking on their shoes then its a great book. What I will not read... Novels. Why read fake stuff when there is so much to learn and so little time (the onle exception here is Mr Brown.... I like to read if the novel have references to real places. Its the cheapest way to travel if combined with Google maps and images).... Damn, did I say short??? Sooooooorry
FUNNY! We have the same biography hangup. I also think they offer more than much fiction. You can't make this stuff up!
Oh no doubt, on that department we are both on the same page !!
Biography is always top of my list. The Pope's Daughter: the Extraordinary Life of Felice della Rovere, Caroline P Murphy is an exceptional read. The best biography gives you a little of everything: history, plot, character development and this one walks you through Rome at the time of Michaelangelo. What could be better?
SciFi, leaning towards the cyberpunk-y end of the spectrum. Ready Player One - I know, a bit late to the party on that one.
Autobiographies and biographies of rock n rollers.
Huge horror fan, but the last thing I read was 'Fire and Fury', by Michael Wolff.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is probably pretty tame by today's standards but it's my #1 horror novel. lol
@crazycurlz I understand that is Stephen King's favorite as well.
@ArthurPhillips so...here's the thing. I do okay with horror until the lights go out and it's nighttime and I'm home alone...yikes! Totally creepy feeling. Do you get that? lol I got my son a collection of Poe. He loves it but woah, that book stays closed, with other books piled on top of it so it can't open up unintentionally!!!
@crazycurlz The last time I got the willies was from reading 'The Amityville Horror', by Jay Anson. I swore I heard shit in the house I was babysitting at. Creeped me out. The last time Stephen King gave me the willies was when I read his short story 'Autopsy Room Four' from his anthology 'Everything's Eventual'. It's a genuinely chilling story.
True stories set in the 20th century about major characters of the past. just read capone . Bloody enthralling
My favorite Genre of books presently are personal development books... but in the fiction world... i'm partial to Science Fiction... especially alternaitve histories... and Time travel fantasy.
Am reading Octavia Butler's parable of the Sower can't wait to jump into Parable of the talents. Still like erotica and imagination
There are several genres that I like, one of which is legal/courtroom novels. Recently, I read both of the books written by Michael Ponsor, a US District Judge (not sure if he is retired). The first is "The Hanging Judge," and the second is "The One-Eyed Judge."
porn... vamp porn
Check out Jorge Palacios Kindelan. Cool dude, really interesting work.
@Blindbird human after my own heart... always need new series to read. Win!
I am very pleasure orientated in the books I read. I had never enjoyed sci-fi until I took a fabulous course at ASU and I'm hooked. I get rreally good ideas about pleasure and sensuality and how fking crazy human kind could be Then came the Carpathian's and Heather Graham. . .* do so much reasearch and enlightened meant work (Hey font changed No meaning to its change)
The Blind Watchmake - some idea of why you like it?
Loved lady Detective Agency. a great read moves great
I go in jags...just finished 4 books by FBI profilers, and one just about Ted Bundy. Behavior is fascinating. I love mysteries, action, suspense, police series such as the John Sanderson Prey books and James Lee Burke’s Robicheaux; classic horror Shirley Jackson; modern Stephen King, Richard Matheson(horror/sci-fi); biographies, and more. It’s not unusual that I’ll read/re-read entire series.
I like biography . And the last book I read was about the gold dust woman (stevie nicks)
I like true crime most and I read mother dearest last
