Sounds more like a Taoist. That was popular at that time, I think.

I mainly remember enjoying reading the Taoist writings, and found them more wise than dogmatic.

@racocn8 That's how I see them, too. They are absent of any punishment for not following except what we bring to ourselves. That alone recommends them, I think. Taoism, more than Buddhism, is a very natural way to connect with nature. All of nature for that's what we are. What's not to love in that and it can unite our populace into following a less militaristic path.
