The Johnson amendment, which is still valid, says that churches that get involved in politics, especially by the endorsing of candidates, would cause them to lose their tax exempt status.

The theory is that if churches want a voice in government, then they should be helping to pay for that government.

If the churches want to be political they have to help pay for our government.

There involvement know has really fucked us up and your right having them help pay for it.

I’m not sure it’s ever been enforced.

Most politicians think it is political suicide to try to enforce it.
