Just checked my Rain Gauge and after there's been steady, soaking rain on and off since late last Wednesday, we've scored almost 1 inch of very much needed rainfall.
An inch of rain may not sound much to those who get in almost bucket loads regularly, but we get approx. 10 inches of rain on average in GOOD years and Sweet Bugger All in the bad years.
This being steady, soaking sporadic type rainfall means that it is getting a chance to soak into the soil and down to the water table instead of, as with torrential and heavy rains, simply building up on the surface and running off into gutters and drains along the roads and streets then into creeks and being almost wasted.
Coming in Spring, it also means that the native plants and forage for the native and domestic animals will be able to recover, grow, set and then spread seed for coming years as well.
