A lot of bad knees out there.
UConn bioengineers successfully regrew cartilage in a rabbit's knee, a promising hop toward healing joints in humans, they report in the 12 January issue of Science Translational Medicine.
. . . to paraphrase John Prine, 'I gave my knees to the needy'
Something similar as been under development for a few years and has come to the states. Unfortunately it works best in young people with injuries. I have arthritic knees and have been watching it for about 10 years but I'm not a good candidate They transplant a artificial meniscus, walk out the same day and after a few weeks your own cartilage infiltrates and replaces it. Grow a new knee, hooray. [medicine.missouri.edu]
