LINK Australia has decided to 'let Covid rip.' Is that a good idea?

Wow. I am watching as this will play out as a great experiment. Stay tuned

If they (whoever they are) wanted everyone to get vaccinated all they would have to do is get insurance companies to announce they will be no longer paying any of the hospital bills. If this was to happen and the hospitals were to say no insurance no care, then what would people do? Of course, this is against the reason there are hospitals.
Conservatives do not want insurance companies to tell them what to do . They do not want to pay for other people's insurance, they have no idea how insurance works, let the conservatives live by their own rules for a while.

We are socialist that way. Medicare, the government, is our insurance.
The vaccines seem to work in keeping people out of hospital. Or did we luck out opening up the same time as Omicron? Our hospitals are not swamped with covid patients, they are short staffed because of covid regulations. But now they are letting positive "essential" workers back, but not unvaxxed..

I suppose that if you were in a crashing plane and the captain ordered everyone to put on a parachute, there would be plenty of arse holes who would refuse because no one tells them what to do, and parachutes cause cancer or impotence and the whole plane crash story is a hoax anyway.
Well fine, let them sit in their seats as the plane plunges to a firey death.
Though some people might break a leg or wrist because they haven't bee trained in parachuting, chances are they won't die from doing the sensible thing and getting of the damned plane.
To be honest I thought Australians had a bit more sense than this, but stupidity does not recognize borders.

At some point, the world will have to do the same. Get vaccinated if you’re smart, special isolation wards for those who get sick and are not. Bring hospitals back online for taking care of people who need urgent care for other reasons.

After all the crap with Novak Djokovic, then they switch to this the next day? 😮

exactly my frustration

If it gets rid of the nazi-like wackos, yes.

It's the collateral damage to people such as the immunocompromised that concerns me.

@anglophone why do you spend a single moment worrying about the hordes that manifestly do not care about you, or their, or your, loved ones?

Happened 15th of December.
Vaccinate all who want then let is rip, I totally agree. Plus there is a time restriction ie before vax's are useless ie within 4 months (booster recommended). Australia is around 90% vaxxed (so they say)
If you don't open up and everyone has been coerced into getting vaccinated, then what is the fucking point of everyone getting vaccinated?
It's almost as though authorities don't trust the vax will work like a vax should, work the way it was sold to everyone, you know "highly efficient and perfectly safe".
