The video footage I’ve been seeing on the news of the shelling victims in Ukrainian have been blurred to conceal faces and the gore.

We can’t share the suffering of these people without being able to as closely as possible experience what they experience. It’s not possible 6,000 miles away, but putting on display the reality, and giving names and stories could help us empathize more closely. Some may say that kids may be scared by this type of thing, I understand. I don’t know the answer, but blurry figures don’t adequately display the suffering.

Thoughts?

They might as well use stick figures and cartoons as the censored images.

Recently reported in Out of the Illusion: "A regiment in Ukraine's military was founded by white supremacists."

{According to one Greek resident in Mariupol recently interviewed by a Greek news station, “When you try to leave you run the risk of running into a patrol of the Ukrainian fascists, the Azov Battalion,” he said, adding “they would kill me and are responsible for everything.”}

Have no doubt, many of you that might have made it this far would most likely find yourselves viewed as an enemy in Ukraine today. Quite possibly detained tortured and killed out of the sight of public. Liberal, progressive, especially any sense of socialist or communist or LBGT. The current RT segment of the war in the east is exposing mass graves and schools that have been used as brutal torture chambers by these fascist from over the past 8 years.

{Other video filmed at checkpoints around Mariupol showed Azov fighters shooting and killing civilians attempting to flee.

On March 1, Zelensky replaced the regional administrator of Odessa with Maksym Marchenko, a former commander of the extreme right Aidar Battalion, which has been accused of an array of war crimes in the Donbass region.}

Fair warning! A very graphic video embedded in this pasted piece of apparently murdered Greek civilians who were attempting to flee. A couple who came up to the incident were recording the evidence was come up on shortly after and attacked also with apparently the wife being killed.

Bollocks as usual. We are viewing, thanks to AlJazeera, graphic videos of civillians who were waiting for transport suddenly having to run for cover as Russian shells landed. THIS IS THE TRUTH, NOT YOUR BELOVED RUSSIAN PROPOGANDA MACHINE CALLED RT.

If you believe anything on RT, you are buying into Russian propaganda, they are the heir to Pravda, except with makeup.

@Petter How interesting Petter that you believe film of Russian shelling of civilians but not Ukrainian shelling of Ukrainians in 2014.
Get off your high morality mate.
The numbers actually killed by the Russians is no where near the 14000 killed in Donbass, the 10's of thousands killed in Britain, Germany & Japan in WWII by bombing of civilians. WWII was a war to wipeout a fascist government. But of course didn't you happily embrace Franco's government when you became a refugee in Spain?[britannica.com]
Have a read of a non RT article:

@Garban how's your shame on supporting continuation of this:

@Garban if you cannot discuss matters rationally I'll simply highlight the fact & your pathetic attempt to deny reality.
Dream on brave bully.

NO! They need to be protected, some of them may be or have been combatants, very dangerous!!!
Who, showing the footage, should decide on which faces to show? Just blur them all & save their lives & even their families' lives!!!!!

that the Russians allegedly have list of Ukrainians to either kill or ship to concentration gulags, means that the blurring of faces may be critical to many people's safety. The only time the horrors of war come home to most people is when their children or friends children come home in body bags. If seeing the destruction of the buildings, knowing that people used to call them home and the emotion of the refugees that have arrived to safety don't get to you, then book a flight if you need to see the gore. I saw it over 45 years ago and that was more than enough for me.

@Garban I didn't think that you personally needed to go, but anyone that can't see the destruction and feel empathy, probably won't feel it until they are near it first hand.

@Garban "serve the ego of one man"? What garbage are you eating?

Concerns about privacy or retaliation? I'm not sure more empathy would help given our powerlessness. I would like to see more coverage of how so many Republicans and Evangelicals have and still support the Russians, and why. We can't put too fine a point on those treasonous attitudes.
