Wade — felt a collective surge of rage, frustration and fear. The concern was, undeniably, most profound in those states with trigger laws, where a wave of draconian restrictions have already been rolling out. But wherever you live, whether your state is for now red or blue, there's another growing obstacle to abortion access and comprehensive gynecological services. It's the Catholic Church.
Anyone familiar with how the Catholic church rolls would not be surprised that the Ethical and Religious Directives of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (ERDs) prohibit abortion and contraceptive — among other services like gender confirmation treatment, most fertility treatments and physician-assisted death — at a Catholic hospital. But Catholic doctrine is becoming a very big issue in subtler ways — in its ever widening role in American healthcare, and in the confusing, contradictory execution of religious dogma in medical options that can put patients at risk without their prior knowledge. ...

This is a common problem. Here some things are dictated by the state but some things one has to go to a public or non-religious private hospital.
A woman I know husband had Parkinson's. He fell and ruptured his bowel and was helicoptered to 'Peace' Health in Bellingham. By the time she got to the hospital he had had surgery and had an induced coma. She was tole he would later get a colostomy bag. She was outraged as he was very late stage Parkinson's and had a do not resuscitate order. A colostomy bag to a guy who couldn't even stand for more than a few minutes was insane. She threatened to sue and they removed his coma drugs and she stopped giving him his meds. He never regained consciousness and died a week later.

In some areas, Catholic facilities are the only community hospitals — including regions of California, Colorado and Illinois.
People who might otherwise think their reproductive options are secure because they live in a blue state may end up discovering that privilege can depend on how far they can drive.

Same old shit from the same men who sexually abused countless thousands of altar boys. They certainly have got a lot of nerve to speak out on any matters relating to sexuality or reproduction. That anyone gives them any credence at all is astounding.

Oklahoma has many small towns that only have Catholic hospitals. Mine is one of them.
If a man wants a vasectomy he has to go to Oklahoma City. If a woman wants her tubes tied, she also has to go out of town. If she thought she could get her tubes tied after a c-section, she's wrong unless she's not in a Catholic hospital which means she'll have to have two separate surgeries.
