Why did USA do this to continue the proxy war against Russia? Are they psychopaths?? "We must also acknowledge that it was not scuppered by events in Ukraine, not even the killing of civilians in Bucha (which Kiev and the West blame on Russia but Moscow claims was "entirely staged” by Ukraine). Instead, it was scuppered by Washington’s decision not to allow Kiev – and the world – take this offramp. Tragically for Ukraine, it was a proxy that was deemed too valuable to be allowed to retire. None of this absolves the Zelensky government of its responsibility for obeying Washington. In a bitter irony, a leader who won’t tire of invoking Ukraine’s sovereignty and “agency” failed to assert them when he could have saved his country." Tarik Cyril Amar

"Apart from the fact that Moscow may no longer be willing to make the same compromise, neither Berlin nor Paris have demonstrated the capacity to play an even conditionally independent role. Rather, they are – again, at least under their current governments – submissive toward the US to the point of literal self-harm. It’s a bleak outlook, but there it is: the US persists in a policy of war at any price, and the EU practices obedience at any price."By Tarik Cyril Amar, a historian from Germany at Koc University in Istanbul working on Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe, the history of World War II, the cultural Cold War, and the politics of memory.

Actually, European countries are leading the support for Ukraine. And this is completely understandable; they have the most to lose if Vlad the Invader is allowed to carry out the obliteration of a democratic European country.

If the USA & UK in their hatred of Russia had allowed the peace deal last year to go ahead you'd still have a viable Ukraine.

@FrayedBear Peace deal? What 🐎💩.

A more pertinent question is why certain elements of the left support Putin and suck up all of his RT bullshit like it was free cocaine. I can understand the right MAGA crowd position, Trump was always Putin's botty boy and his attacks on institutions like NATO, the EU, the FBI, mainstream media, and democracy fall in with their autocratic philosophies. But the left should know better. When Putin used the same tired excuses on Ukraine that Hitler used to invade the Sudatanland, it should have rang a bell but no it didn't. When Putin jails, exiles or just plain murders any opposition, they take the 3 monkeys' approach; "Move along now, nothing to see here". They then go on to quote RT, a wholly owned by the state propaganda Putin mouthpiece, that is less trustworthy than the Watchtower. It is produced by a country so heavily censored that even OP's 1st sentence "...the proxy war against Russia" could land him a 10 stretch. (don't call it a war).
So we have a highly oppressive regime that has either directly oppressed or supported oppression by proxy of other nations like Georgia, Chetniya and Belarus and you start jumping up and down with pom-poms when they invade another one.
Why?
Could it be some leftover sentiment for the old USSR? KGB without the Marxism?
Maybe "My enemy's enemy is my friend" is closer? "We do not like or support the West and oppose it. Even though we live under its protection and take full advantage of the opportunities of free speech/assembly etc. it provides. Therefore our govts = bad guys, ergo Russia = good guys"
Who will be next to be put on a pedestal? We have already had Hamas, so can we look forward to "Go team ISIS" or "North Korea the perfect utopia" coming to a post near us soon?

Why are others so ate up on RT and Russian ideas that they blast America constantly and the bottom line is always that they come from other countries. Does anyone see a pattern here?

@DenoPenno Sorry but as already stated the MAGA crowd is sharing the KY with RT. After RT got kicked off cable TV it moved right into MAGA YouTube clone Rumble

That must be why I see all these wonderful glowing reports about western censorship, WMD - words of mass deception, sanctions against those publishing the wrong doing of the USA (Assange & many others).
None of this is new in the corrupt American society - it goes back to the slave owners giving the negros a much better life than they had in Africa.

Here are a couple more from RT for you to ignore.
Magazine redacts article by Biden aide boasting of Middle East achievements [rt.com]
US asks Qatar to ‘tone down’ Al Jazeera – Axios [rt.com]
What Biden’s ‘new world order’ really means [rt.com]

most of what RT produces comes from non russian sources. But I see that you have suddenly lost your dyslexia Kelvin - got an editor or simply been impersonated by a new yankee scammer?

@FrayedBear Are you really using whataboutism to defend the president for life dictatorship of Russia? Criticism of the govt is an art form in the West. In Russia, it is a sentence of defenestration.
Hand on heart, can you honestly say that we could have this type of conversation in Russia without state sanctions?

Nb. Grammarly really helps with my form of dyslexia

@273kelvin Are you wholly blaming Putin? Do you really think that he is not advised by a veritable battalion of Russians?
May I ask that you recconsider what you think I do not as "defend the president" as defend the people of Russia in their right to protect thenselves just as I defend the right of Palestinians to defend themselves against their genocide perpetrated by the Israelis.

@273kelvin I'm pleased to read that Grammarly is being a big help to you. Its disturbing that an American contributor claiming great education thinks it unnecessary to improve his written language.

@FrayedBear That veritable battalion has been somewhat decimated by political assassinations. If Russia were anything close to a democracy, then the Russian people would also be to blame for the invasion of Ukraine. But seeing as though those soldiers have no choice but to go and be cannon fodder and any form of protest is crushed, the buck/ruble stops fairly at Putin's desk.
I must have missed that news where the Ukraine forces crossed the border and tried to capture Moscow. Damn that biased news media.
Much hogwash has been touted by RT about "The aggression of NATO". As far as I know, NATO is a purely defensive organisation. Could you provide any instances where they were the aggressor? Not individual nations like Turkey or the UK and not peacekeeping forces as in Bosnia but NATO attacks... instances.

@FrayedBear What can I say other than real men can wear pink. His boasting of his academic achievements says more about his insecurities than mine. I could go on about my overcoming difficulties and becoming a published writer (No bestseller lists) but that would be a pissing contest and off the subject.

Who are the "certain elements of the left [who] support Putin and suck up all of his RT bullshit"?

@Flyingsaucesir The OP for one and I have encountered many others.

@273kelvin Forgive my torpidity. What is the OP?

@Flyingsaucesir Original poster

@273kelvin lol, you're still spouting the other side's propaganda Kelvin.

@273kelvin why do you support Israel commiting genocide against Palestinians but not Russia defending Russians? Is it because the Russians are not just armed with the equivalent of sticks & stones but unlike the Israelis have shown incredible restraint in defending their fellow Russians in Donbass?

@273kelvin and just like Cuba never invaded USA but when this independent nation invited Russia to install missiles in Cuba in retaliation for American provocation of installing nuclear missiles in Italy & Turkey USA all but declared WWIII in 1962 but perhaps you were still in short pants back then.

@FrayedBear I do not support Israel levelling cities in Gaza but you support Russians levelling cities in Ukraine (incredible restraint my arse). Ukraine recognises Russia's right to exist as a sovereign nation. Putin does not reciprocate that idea. (neither does Hamas) The whole Dombass argument is right out of Hitlers Sudatenland playbook. It was bs then and it is bs now.
At the heart of your argument is the idea that Putin is "Simply defending fellow Russians". To buy into that you have to also buy into the presupposition that Putin gives a flying fuck about the lives of his "fellow Russians". The guy is ex-KGB, an organisation akin to the Spanish Inquisition and the Gestapo. He is daily sending thousands of conscripts to their deaths and ordering the murder of anyone who disagrees with him. So do not pretend that this is anything other than a territorial land grab that is failing.

@273kelvin Ah, yes, well it seems he is in the employ of Vlad the Invader.

@FrayedBear So we are equating Cuba with Ukraine then?
"Did the Ukraine have nukes then?"
"Er... Yes and no"
"??"
"Well they DID have when the wall came down but they gave them up"
"Why did they do that?"
"Well they were given assurances by Russia, the USA and NATO that they would be safe and one side or the other would stop anyone else invading Ukraine"
"What all of Ukraine?"
"Yeah"
"Including Dombass and Crimea?"
"Yeah"
"And Russia agreed to this?"
"Yeah"
"Should have kept the nukes then"
"Mmmm"
"Okay, so did America invade Cuba then?"
"Er...Yes and no"
"??"
"The CIA got a bunch of Cuban exiles together and funded/armed/trained them to take their country back"
"What happened?"
"Well they landed at the Bay Of Pigs and got slaughtered"
"All of them?"
"Pretty much. It was a complete shit show"
"So did the US army go in after that?"
"No"
"Marines?"
"No, but they have sanctioned them ever since."
"Why did they not just invade Cuba and take it back? I mean they had actual nukes aimed at them?"
"They did not want to get the Russians involved""
"Why did they not tell the Russians to stay the hell out of it or they will nuke them?"
"Mmmm Coz they were not like Putin"

@273kelvin your belief's propaganda

@FrayedBear "Belief" implies an act of faith over facts. Can you please state where my previous comment was non-factual?
