I post this link only because it references the current issue of Google ad blocking wars.
I don't know the extent of members' interest in this issue. For my part, I love YouTube as a resource, but I loathe Google, especially the horrible ads, and I refuse to pay for premium. In fact I am getting closer and closer to becoming Google free, with open source and other alternatives to everything.
Anyway, I don't know how you deal with YouTube ads - pay for premium, ad blockers -- but in case anyone is interested, you can use the BRAVE Browser, which effectively blocks ads and other website nasties, and does a splendid job in allowing you to watch YouTube without those horrendous grifter and shonky ads that now ruin Youtube, and you don't have to pay for a blocker service. I use it exclusively now for YouTube, and you can sign in to your account, if you have one, and it still blocks everything.
If anyone is interested.
By the way, it blocks a few nasties from this site too. It is now my main browser for everything, especially with my VPN.[androidauthority.com]
I view Youtube on my TV since Xfinity provides an app. In general, the viewer is given the option to skip ads after 5 seconds. That is my habit. It is not an ideal solution, I won't pay for premium services.
I don't worry about blocking them, in some ways I think that watching them is how you pay for the service, but I won't pay for premium. What I do do however, is have a solitaire program live on the task bar, during the adds I click it up and play, then click it back down to the task bar when the video starts, until next time.
A wise use of your time. It can be a little taxing to keep shifting attention but I have to say multi tasking is one of the ways to make YouTube a bit more bearable. It has gotten so bad compared to when it first came out. The length and number of ads makes it a chore to use. I do something similar with crossword puzzles. I also usually have music playing so I can just mute YouTube and enjoy the music with my full attention.
