Part of the fun of being owned by reptiles. Shedding issues. This is Riddick, who is actually a girl but was adopted out to us as a boy. She is a anerythristic corn snake, meaning she lacks any red pigment. The rescue didn’t know how to care for snakes so they pretty much pushed the snakes on us. She is now about 15 or 16 years old and I’ve been her mommy for 10 years. She’s usually good with shedding but who knows with any of them when problems might occur. Her eye caps seem to be retained. Fun fun. Off into the sauna she goes. Then gentle manual removal of stuck skin.

Note: she’s skinny right now because she just dumped out unfertilized eggs recently but she’s been eating fine and is an active girl.

Corn snakes have so many variations.

Yup, and they are coming up with new morphs all the time. There are even scaleless cornsnakes. I have 6 corns of different morphs myself. No scaleless though.

Back to her habitat she goes.

That took me almost an hour but all done!!!! She’s all shiny. She did so well when I did her face and eyes. Like she knew I was helping her.

I would never have identified her as a corn snake. She's pretty though.

There are numerous morphs of corn snakes nowadays. But even the normals are pretty.
