I actually took advantage of this tendency (with our water dragon) by building a primarily aquatic habitat with added dry areas (rather than the reverse of adding water pans to a land habitat), while running the water through a high rate fitration system. I maintained the area as one would an aquarium. The dry areas stay clean a long time.

Yep, but simplifies cage cleaning if you dump the soiled water right away. (:

@AmiSue I gave Gil a shower every morning. Way easier to deal with than cleaning his enclosure.
@AmiSue my mom has been doing night checks of her sulcata females because they’ve been nesting too. She lost one a few winters ago, so she’s hyper-vigilant now. I didn’t realize it was stinky when they’re laying.
