Mine would require that I re-fluff the food before he'd eat it. Same food, just rearranged in the dish.

My cat acts like she is starving, there are several bites of kibble left in the bowl. I add more so I don't have to do it later. She sniffs the food and walks away. I would throw something at her but I'd have to pick it up eventually.
It is just a routine that shows they are in charge. I work so eight cats have a place to live and give me love and fun, a good trade.
